This is one of those calls that try to make you say the word 'Yes'. Called me 2x today, once at 12:30 and again at 5pm. The first call the guy asks for me by name, I say "who's this?" He says, I am blah blah from Better Homes and Gardens calling about your subscription, are you happy with your subscription?" I said, "I have not received that magazine for years!" Then he hung up. Just now when he called back, asked for me by name again I said "who's this?" He said, "this is better homes and gardens, are you (my name)?" Again hoping I would say 'yes' I just hung up. Remember.. there is a scam going around where they want you to say yes, they record your voice saying yes, then they can rack up all sorts of charges for you over the phone or they say you gave them permission to do whatever it is they plan to do. NEVER EVER say YES (yeah) on the phone to anyone. I answer questions with more questions... they will hang up confirming the scam.
Rest assured, nothing is going to happen simply because you say "Yes". If simply saying "Yes" could open accounts or sign you up for something why would they need to record YOUR "Yes"? All they would need is to record anyone & claim it was you.
I think what she meant by "make you say the word 'Yes'" was they ask leading questions to try and get you to say "Yes", questions most people would automatically reply in the affirmative to. But as we both know, even if you DO say "Yes" nothing can come of it.
This number called five times in one day between 12:30 and 8:40 pm, twice the next day even though the number was blocked after the first call.. I thought computers were smarter than that. These calls have gotten totally ridiculous. Makes you want to disconnect AT&T. They could stop it.
