Recieved call this morning saying I owe taxes on my 2010 tax year. I knew that was a lie because I didn't live in the US from 2009 until 2013, and they called my parents house.
A man named Sam claiming to be from IRS called and had enough information to keep me on the line for a while. The thing that made me know it was a scam is that I am currently paying IRS and he said to disregard that payment and pay him right then to avoid jail! Hello IRS can garnish wages, take returns and do all sorts of really severe things without abusing me on the phone. Reported him to the IRS and gave the #to there fraud line.
I recieved a call from this Mr.Clark and he told me I also had a civil IRS case pending. When I called the number back I left a message he called me back and when Intild him I already contacted the IRS he hung up on me. This is a scam that everyone needs to be aware of!
