I received a call from this number stating that my computer files were corrupt. I guess I had some extra time on my hands so I played along for a while - when he asked me what it said on the screen, I shouted "it says, you're an [***] if you think I'm going to fall for this" lol couldn't resist :))
Got a call @ 9:08 PM from this number.
I figured it was a scam and I was in a foul mood (Been a long day!), so I answered it.
A guy with a foreign accent said "Hi, I'm with Microsoft..."
I was immediately P.O.ed so I began to tell him in no uncertain terms that he was a $#%*& liar and that I knew what he was after. (Plus I work on computers and knew he was lying about my computer being corrupt!).
I quickly added that if he ever called again, especially so late (after 9 PM) I would report him and file a lawsuit. I don't know who hung up the quickest...him or me! :^)
The first tip-off: I don't know anyone from New York City or the whole state for that matter!! Also, no one calls me after 9 PM unless it's family or close friends, all local.
Hope this helps others.
And I WILL report him to the FTC!
