I received an automated message from this number today that stated it was the IRS calling regarding a time sensitive matter and urgent matter and to call back as soon as possible. When I did, I spoke with a man with a strong Indian accent who identified himself as Ray Miller, IRS Investigative Agent and immediately stated a false federal ID number. He informed me that the IRS had tried contacting me several times without response and that on two occasions an agent even came to my home with documentation to serve me. He then told me that because I failed to be reached that I was classified as fleeing and running from outstanding debts from supposed fraudulent taxes filed in the past, and that the IRS was suing me, that there was a federal arrest warrant out for me, that US Marshals would be arriving to my home or work within an hour to arrest me and to seize my property, vehicles and bank accounts. When I asked about why I had never received any documentation in the mail, he went through a lengthy confusing explanation and then said I might have an opportunity to settle the matter and not have to be arrested. He said my outstanding debt was more than $5600 and that if was able to pay it today, he would call off the warrant, but that if I was not willing to comply, agents would arrest me in less than hour, I would be in jail for seven days until court release, and that the lawsuit was suing me for over $25,000 in federal, legal, delinquent charges. He said that since my bank accounts and debit card was seized, I could only pay with a prepaid tax voucher (aka prepaid credit card). THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. The actual IRS website warns people of these fraud phone scammers who pretend they are IRS agents. The IRS will NEVER demand money or personal information on the phone and will ALWAYS try contacting a person through the mail first.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Received exact same phone message from this phone # and a "officer Nicky Johnson"  from IRS, saying I needed to call their hot line, 516-693-2211" and not to disregard this action before we take any action against you;  it is a computer generated voice mail. I am reporting it now, and also letting our CPA who files our taxes know about it.
IT is 100% a scam #  IRS always contacts by mail and doesn't leave phone messages or call you.
I am taking the advice of other contributors to this site, thanks fellow consumers.

I received the exact same creepy voice recorded message this is a phishing scam and the IRS would never call you to collect a debt before they send written notice. There is no way I am going to call them back and give them any banking information.
