The call came from a payphone. Left a message (woman speaking in grave tones tells me I'm being sued by the IRS and to contact them immediately at 509 587 3082) After I finally stopped laughing I blocked the number. Glad I finally bought a phone system with robust call blocking capabilities. Can't imagine living without that utility. The DNC list is a joke and unlisted numbers no longer protect us from unwanted calls.
Same deal, barely understandable on a bad line from India or somewhere similar. Told me my computer was sending Microsoft a message that it had a rundll32.exe malware problem. Microsoft does not call people with infected computer problems. If you are seriously worried, go and buy a anti-virus software and scan your system. Don't get duped by the thieves.
Received a call at 1:15pm ET,from this #,no awnser, ,,?call back since i know people from NY,and it said that number dont exist?????,i reporter to my carrier.
Caller in heavy accent told me he was with Windows technical support. Before he could continue I told him the call would be reported to the police as a fraud. I used the *57 service (the one for logging prank or illegal calls - useless as it probably is...)
A few times a day I get a call where no one says anything...just a 5-6 second pause, then I hear a 'ding' sound and an automated lady saying 'goodbye'. Annoying!
