I have rec'd 3 calls from 7291506170004223 (last several digits vary). When I answered, I got a recording message saying that IRS is filing a lawsuit on me and I need to call 516-883-1495 or they will have me arrested.
I also got a call directly from 516-858-7432 saying the same thing. That time it was an Indian man talking. He said his name was Michael black, a typical English name.
I can ignore the call. But I don't know if they know more private information of me. I am worrying. Who I should seek for help from?
Yes, this is a scam. If the IRS wants to talk with you then they will send you a letter. Unless you really are a criminal then the IRS does not start out by arresting you. The caller told me they were from my local Sheriff's department but that was not the case. Don't give them any of your sensitive credit info. The IRS will always contact you in writing first.
Definitely Indian sounding .. call was threatening. somehow talking a lot of garbage IRS, local sheriff etc.
Was patient for 2 minutes and then hung-up!
Original call appeared to come from the Hennepin County Sheriff, and even had the correct caller ID for it! But the number they wanted me to call back was this one. "Jack Rogers" was the "Sheriff", "Steven Wyatt" was the supposed IRS officer.
