This is one of those well-publicized scam robocalls. I took this call on my cellphone, mistakenly thinking it was someone l know. A friendly recorded female voice says, "This is 'so-and-so' calling. Can you hear me?" Hang up immediately, or curse her out, but DO NOT say "yes." They will then use that recording of your voice to claim that you approved all kinds of unwanted services that they will try to charge you for. Of course when l called the number back, l got a fast busy signal, the kind you get when a number is out-of-service.

There have been several telephone scams in which the caller tries to elicit a "yes" answer from the called person. Those scams have been around for at least four years.
The good part is ... Snopes states there are NO verified reports of people actually getting charged because of their "yes" answer.

Do you have any PROOF people have lost money because of the supposed "say yes scam"?
Interesting observation: There are quite a few reports of the "Can You Hear Me" (or "say "yes") scam here ... and those posts tell readers not to say "yes", as if many people have lost a lot of money due to that scam. However there are at least as many "the IRS called me" scams reported here ... but many of those posts ask "is this real?".
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) reports nearly 4,000 victims who have collectively reported over $20 million in financial losses as a result of tax scams. That is a LOT more than the $0.00 loss so far verified for the "say yes" scam!
