The IRS has issued warnings about these scams and the IRS will not initiate a contact to you like this. Do not call them back - they're fishing for information or will want you to wire them money. If you don't believe me, check the IRS website at www.irs.gov. Type in "scams" in the search window. In the very first article, "Tax Scams/Consumer Alerts" scroll down to read the part on "IRS-Impersonation Telephone Scam". Hope this helps you.
