Legitimate telemarketers - the photography studios and time share salespests - have stopped calling. They follow the law, not calling anyone on the Do Not Call list.
For a scammer the DNC List law is one more law to break. Robo-calling has been easy ever since the invention of the personal computer. The internet and Voice Over Internet Protocol has made international calls so inexpensive they might as well be free. In many 3rd world countries scamming dumb Americans is not illegal or the laws against scamming are not enforced.
caller id shows Round Lake, NY only. I didn't answer, and they left no message. I called the number later, and like many of these telemarketers or faudulent calls, the phone number has been disconnected. Amazing that they can get around that. I tried to call them to let them know they were in violation of the DNC list (which is worthless anyway).
I received a call from round lake ny. I am actually expecting a call from someone near that area so I answered. Very think middle eastern accent male was speaking on the phone. I couldn't understand him but I told he that he caught me working. He went on to give me some pitch...I interrupted him and again told him that I was working and that this was a do not call number...he never stopped talking so I put the phone down and let him talk until he realized I was not listening and hung up. Took him about a minute or more.
Knowing that it was probably someone who had no business calling me and at this time (8:14 PM), I answered the phone with a grunt. After the second grunt, the caller hung up. No sound on the other end.
