Got the same scam call from the same number. Steve Parker from the IRS left a message that the IRS is opening a tax fraud case against me and I need to contact him immediately.

A guy with a foreign accent called and said he was Brian O'Connell and was about to sign an arrest warrant due to tax fraud in 2012 and 2013. When I googled the phone number and questioned him, he said his name again and gave me a badge number 39021 and that as soon as I hung up, within 45 mins his officer would come and arrest me. I have filed my taxes online, same status, same everything, just slightly different income levels and addition of my son in 2011. Sounds super fishy and I am on hold with irs and have been for a minute to seek the truth. Plus with issues like that, especially when you haven't moved, you would have received some sort of documentation in the mail, right?

Total scam, asked for Supervisor and he also had heavy accent. Said there were issues with 2012 and 2013 Federal Tax Forms. I asked for his direct phone line and told him I would call back. He hung up the phone.

There are numerous telephone and email scams in which individuals claim to be employees of the Treasury Department. These scammers often state that they are from the “Department of Legal Affairs,” offer grant money in exchange for you wiring a small payment, or threaten to arrest you within a short period of time unless payment is made. Do not provide personal information or payment to these individuals.  Their actions are crimes under Titles 18 and 31 of the United States Code, and the Treasury Office of Inspector General is working to stop them.

If they claim to be from Treasury, report  it to [email protected] with a description.  If it was a phone contact, include:
the exact date and time that you received the call(s)
the phone number of the caller
the geographic location and time zone where you received the call
a description of the communication.

If they claim to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or it is about taxes, report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at:
