I received a call from 520-221-4067 saying that someone was filing a case with the local county court (which she mentioned by name) against an unknown person with the same last name as me. Kayla with an unintelligible last name and never mentioning an agency or company she was with said the case was not going to be be filed against me but the unknown person with the same last name. She said my address was going to be filed with the court and this unknown person could call 1-866-306-0342 and speak to the legal department to update where they were living. Then she said once they filed with the court it was too late and my address would be on the court record and people would come to my house repeatedly to find this unknown person because they would have a court order to locate. I took that as a threat to harass. She was trying to intimidate me into giving up where this unknown person was/is if I knew him/her. I believe this to be an unscrupulous debt collector just trying to locate someone with the same last name. Harassing someone with the same last name as someone who owes money should be against the law!!

The same goes for endless telephone harassment

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking), the only thing they understand.
