The big giveaway is the fact that if there IS a warrant for your arrest, you wouldn't hear about it until the cops showed up to arrest you. Oh, and debt is civil, not criminal, so there wouldn't be a warrant anyway, even if you had defaulted on a loan.
SCAM -- said they were a lieutenant with the Pima County Sheriff's Department and a warrant was about to be issued for my husband. He was very convincing, so I gave him my husband's cell number, but I still called the PCSD to verify the call was valid, and they said there was no such officer and that number was not affiliated with them. An actual officer took the a report of the fraudulent call, and gave me a case number. They have been getting many reports of this happening lately, but have trouble locating the people as they change names and numbers. He said real law enforcement will never ask for money over the phone...
