A recorded message claimed it was the I.R.S. calling with its "final attempt" or warning, etc., and we needed to call them back. Supposedly we had a "problem" with the I.R.S., which we have heard nothing from since legally filing our taxes in April with a professional C.P.A. as always. No letters from the I.R.S. since then. So I called the number back just for fun, knowing it was a scam I had been warned about from sources such as our local television news stations. A man with what sounded like a middle eastern accent answered. I said nothing and hung up. I tried to call back again later and then got a recording. I believe that after my call back I was taken off the list of potential victims.
