Same story as above- publisher's sweepstakes headquarters calling to verify my information. Said I was nominated for a grand prize sweepstakes. (trip for 4 to Europe, new car, 25K etc) with drawing to be held May 31.
I told them I was not comfortable revealing any personal information and hung up.
A $25,000 cash sweepstakes. I've been "nominates" by one of my credit card companies because I'm a preferred customer. They gave me a complimentary 6 month subscription to 6 magazines. They asked for my occupation, age, and marital status and checked to see if my address was correct. I approved my previous address because all of my mail is being forwarded to my current address. This sounded very sketchy because they did not indicate which credit card company they called from, and because they asked my age and current employment. I told them I was currently unemployed, even though I am employed. If they were from a credit card company, they should already know my birth date, marital status and my occupation.
