Returned home late Sunday night and heard two vmm left on Saturday 1/25/2014. Naturally was quite concerned. The vmm both said the same thing. Had to listen to them several times as they are not easy to understand. The accent could be from any number of countries - not making assumptions about it being this country or that. Thought I would try to contact the IRS directly to see if they could simply route my call to that division. In the course of trying to find their # and googling the # came across this site. Yes -- was somewhat suspicious of the call and thought it sounded weird. But like most responsible people, was not going to ignore the msg. Was prepared to contact the IRS. At any rate, this morning Monday 1/27/2014, rec'd another msg on my landline. Note that the call back # was different in the Monday morning msg - though the msg itself is the same. Basically, the msgs were:
"This msg is intended for XX (my name). XX, the very second you receive this msg I need you. Or your written attorney of record to return the call. The issue at the hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is Roger Williams and I am calling you from Investigation Bureau of IRS. Internal Revenue Service Dept. And hotline to my division is 425-568-9101 (on Monday it was 530-422-6099). Don’t try to disregard this msg and do return the call as soon as possible before any legal allegations are expressed against you. So goodbye and take care."
Considering whether / how / to whom to report this. It was disconcerting. I know it would be very frightening for alot of people. Anyway, glad to find the information posted by others. Hopefully this post will help someone else also. Thx
