Received a call from this number, around noon time. The caller left a short message on my answering machine, asking for my mother. Strange, my mother has been dead for six years. Obviously, these people are working with old information.
I got a similar call. I never respond to charities that call me. It's the same with police organizations. There should be an investigation of this abuse. My number is on "do not call" lists, but they manage to get through. Why should they be able to call?
Sunday morning 10am, "Brian" was calling from the Armed Forces asking for me by my first name. Clearly a scam so I hung up. I've also gotten voicemail from people saying they're from the IRS and that I owe large sums of money and there would be a warrant out for my arrest if I ignored the call. Best precaution is to let any number you don't recognize go to VM.
Sunday morning, asking for donation. Asked for my husband by name, then went into his spiel to me. I never give to these solicitations. I'd like to know how they know our name and how they get through "do not call" lists. If they are using government records it should be against the law. The same thing happens with police solicitations. They have our name and number for emergencies. It should not be used for solicitations. This should be against the law. I have designated this as a non-profit organization but I have no way of knowing if it is. It is most likely a profit-making solicitaion company that takes a hefty percentage of any donations. You should have a designation that fits this abuse.
