When I get these calls I tell them. Who is this. Then after their bs spew in a very authoritative voice I tell them this is a government secure cell phone and I work for the pick your state attorney general and this has me concerned as a scam. In addition I say you're calling across state lines which in my state adds an additional penalty under section blah blah blah as well as state law which becomes a class c offense if they call a second time. They never call back.
So far today they have called me 13 times!! I answered once, the call was very staticky and the caller had a thick accent, so the only thing I could understand was something about virus protection. I said "not interested. " they have called 7 times since. I one day!!
They have been calling relentlessly. I finally picked up on the 9th time they called TODAY. They said they were an antivirus company and said at first, though it was really hard to tell what he was saying due to his very thick Indian accent. He knew my first and last name and my email address but no more. Hell it's not hard to find that kind of thing these days. First he said that I bought the antivirus for three payments of 50 dollars, or something like that, then said I purchased the antivirus for 99.99. I said I didn't purchase any antivirus. I was about to ask what exactly was this company's name, or the name of the antivirus but then they abruptly hung up after muttering about it might be a mistake. I called back to see if I could get a name for this scam of a company, but every time- it has a short machine message saying wait for an agent, for what company they do not say, then they pick up then hang up. IT'S A SCAM.They don't leave any messages because they have been calling me consistently for weeks. I blocked the number. They are the "whatever is the best way to scam someone" company, they change their identity on a whim. I don't know if they were trying to scam me to collect a debt for the antivirus or trying to sell me an antivirus upgrade. It sounded like the former. It sounded as if they were trying to collect a non existent debt, but the accent was so thick it was really hard to understand what he was saying.
