His name is Gary and the scam is that the company www.workingpitbull.com will pay $400 per week for the employee to have a pit bull decal on their car to promote pit bulls. The company will send a check for $1900 of which the employee keeps $400 and pays the detailer to come out and place the small decal for $1500. When asked to provide a photo of this decal, he could not provide it. When asked to send two checks, one for employee and one for detailer, he refused. I informed that I would report this scam. THe advert was found on Craigslist Lynchburg area. Also, he would only text. When I requested that he call to discuss, he texted that he was deaf.

Yep ... there is the scam!
You supposedly deposit the $1900 check, but must use your own money to pay the $1500. Then ... their check bounces, and you are out all $1900. The scammer keeps your $1500.
In general, this is known as "the overpayment scam", and a similar technique is used in several areas.
