just got a call and sent it to voicemail. The message said that it was a final notice from the IRS, and they were filing a lawsuit against me. Left a different number for a call-back. I'll do more research before actually calling.
They claimed to be a windows service, stating that my computer had downloaded several malicious and unwanted programs and that I needed to follow their instructions in order to reveal them.
I was called from 530-888-9650.
The male caller identified himself as being from the U.S. Treasury Department, and told me that I had
been selected by the U.S. Government to receive $5,000.
At that point I hung up.
I was called from this # today and was told that I received a loan that I did not pay back and criminal charges were being bought against me...so not in the mood for these games this morning!
I was also told they were from some security department having to do with Windows. He wanted me to search for pdf files using commands in the "run" menu, stating that these .pdf files were harmful viruses taking over my PC. I looked them up to find out they are not dangerous at all. He even forwarded me to a supervisor when I demanded he repeat the name of the company and how he knew this was on my computer. The supervisor, "Brad" went into some long spiel that I couldn't understand and I hung up.
