I'm getting the 540-231-9891 call roughly twice a week on my cell. Never answer it and have no connection with V.T. However, I did graduate from a university now celebrating its 150th Anniversary and get occasional mail solicitations requesting verification of personal data for a soon-to-be published alumni register. This makes me wonder if the 540-231-9891 call is part of a larger marketing ploy to sell books to alums.
Recording says "if you see this no. on your caller id, it belongs to the Va Tech system but we cannot identify the origin". Number co-opted by a scammer? Why would they bother
I've been getting this number for several months. I never answered till today. They asked for me by my full name. I asked who it was on the phone and they hung-up. weird.
I have had this number call me 2 times this week but never answered it, has anyone figured out who/what they are calling for? I know when I call it back it is a VT number but can't figure out who would be calling me from there.
Thanks
VT is contacting all there Alum with advanced degrees to update your contact info and have you take a survey of why you chose them, what you are doing now, etc etc. completely harmless, but a waste of your time.
