Most charities with "police" or "fire department" in the name keep 90% or more of every donation to cover expenses. Some keep 97%. You would be wise to never give them any money.

Last time it was someone calling from N. Carolina, at least they are calling from the right state this time. Still as above said, most of the money goes to the fund raisers. I think they give a certain amount of the money to the charity once a certain dollar amount is reached, than they keep the rest.
Called my home at 9:56 am today with only Rocky Mount VA on the Caller ID. I have told these people to take my name off their calling list every time they call that I do NO business over the phone with anyone. They fail to do this. I'm not sure that they are truly any kind of charity! The only reason I answered is I live close to this area on Caller ID.
