You were smart, Linda. I was not once or twice, because I have diabetes. Sometimes a valid medical supply company telemarketer might call (illegally or I've talked to them or a related company) and I'd be interested, but most of these now are scammers. They sound very professional and friendly, especially the understandable ones with American accents. However, I stick with my legitimate OneTouch suppliers.
I was put on hold when the phone call came in at 4:36 pm 3-16-2015. I stayed on the line because I wanted my number removed from the calling list. He said it was jumbled pharmacy about a recent prescription. He asked if I was still suffering from back pain and diabetes....none. He hung up before I could tell him to remove me from his list. I have called DO NOT CALL several times.
I answer, there's a silence, then an automated voice says, "Please wait for the next available agent." Of course, I hung up. After all, I didn't initiate the call -- they did.
My husband and I have received several calls from the Windows error scammers. They usually hang up when my husband tells them he is an IT professional (he is). One time, he decided to play along for awhile and then told the caller what his profession was. They talked for about 15 minutes and during that time, the caller admitted to these calls being a scam. He said that most Americans are computer illiterate and they can get away with this. So...NEVER let anyone that calls you, get remote access to your computer. Just hang up!
