Me too - an offer from Craigslist today. He said his name was Jeff Hero and gave me more than I asked for to pull it down the item now. Is this a legit offer?
No. He will send you a fake check, and ask you to wire the difference to him via Western Union. Eventually the check bounces and you are left holding the bag.
I got a text from Jeff Hero too. Looked up a reverse number and it's out of state. It is a scam. I emailed cash only and never got another reply. They do offer to send a check......do not deal with him!!!
I also work for a bank. The bank releases the funds normally the next day, or within 2. The check can take up to 10 days to process thru the Fed, so although it will appear to have cleared your account, prompting you to send the difference back, or in my case the deal was to pay the wedding planner the dif, the check will be pulled back out of your account after the 10 days so you end up losing the money.
