Spoofed scam call trying to get me to answerer by making it look like a local number. Caller ID read "Out-of-Area;" we never ever answer these types of calls. If it's a legitimate call, and 95% of them are not, we let it ring through to the answering machine They usually hang up and don't leave a message and we then add their number to our call blocker data base so if they call again using this number the phone only rings once and then cuts them off. I thought it would be frustrating to these scammers to call us all the time (for five years now since we added our call blocker to our home phone line) and constantly get blocked but they don't care since they are calling from a machine. All they want is for a "live" person to pick up so they can try and scam you in some way; mostly trying to get your credit card number so they can rip off your account. It's sort of a game we play with these low life crooks; they call; we don't answer; add them to the block list; they call back and get blocked; we have a brief laugh and life goes on. Not much else the average consumer household can do; our government certainly won't do anything to stop these bloodsuckers.

We have customers in that area so I answered and they hung up on me. I called it back and it told me to press 1 to be removed, which I did. We'll see if they actually remove us!
