I received a call on my cell from 551-137-11570 from a computerized voice telling me my debit card was deactivated due to security reasons. . I didn't hear a bank name mentioned. My phone is a Delaware number and I live in Delaware too. 551 is a New Jersey Area Code but 55 is also a Country Code for Brazil. This looked like an international number to me but the recorded message was a dead give away that is was a scam.
Appeared to be an automated robotic voice phishing attack trying to get my debit card information! Said the call was from Visa organization. To me, it didn't seem polished enough to be from Visa.
The robot said my debit card was stopped due to a security flaw. Press 1 if I want to reactivate. Then enter the debit card number! Yeah, right. I hung up then. If they know the card is inactive, what would they need the number for?
i received same call this morning. i reported it to the BBB. i went through with the entire process using this info ; 1111-1111-1111-1111 for CC number 11/11 for experation and 111 for security pin and 1111 for 4 digit pin. then it said my card was unlocked. Obviously this is all fake information they system would have deteced it false if it was a real system not a way to record for fraud.
They said that they were calling from Mass bay credit Union and the were calling to say that my debit card info was taken or something of that nature and to press 1 to deactivate.
I just received a phone call from #551-137-1157 on my cell, claiming themselves to be calling from MassBayCredit Union, because my debit card was inactivated due to some unauthorized activity. Thus asking me to press 1 to be forwarded to customer service and then to press 1 again to activate my debit card. After pressing 1 (the second time), the robotic (recorded message) voice asked for me to enter my 16-digit debit card number....HANG UP!! it's a scam.
