Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Well looks like the Injuns are getting back at the white man, assuming this company really is tribal owned.  This is the company web site:  https://www.americanwebloan.com/.  Not that under their rates and terms they don't list anything.  Also note their address which is confirmed here:  http://www.manta.com/c/mt8l36w/american-web-loan.  Here is where their business is located:  https://www.google.com/maps/@36.729542,-97.06 ... 6Yw!2e0!6m1!1e1  Which looks more like a shopping center than a reservation to me.  Here is their BBB page where you should not both the F rating and the alert which tells you that they are unlicensed:  http://www.bbb.org/tulsa/business-reviews/pay ... ity-ok-38019586  Please also note the names of the manager do not resemble any tribal names I ever heard.

It is interesting to note that the company itself is warning about the very scams it is conducting.  There are many, many complaints on the internet about how people have taken out a few hundred dollars in loans and have paid back thousands without any of it going towards the principal.

Stay completely away from this sleazebag company.

Same thing. Scam! I work, have no loans. They should get a job and quit trying to swindle those who make an honest living
