This number showed up on my caller ID today, Feb. 23, 2012, at 1:05pm. I live just north of Guelph, Ontario.
A man with an Indian accent told me he worked for Microsoft and he could see that there was malicious malware and serious viruses on my computer. I know all about this SCAM so I played along. I asked him which computer was corrupted. He asked how many I had. I said that he should know, he could see my computer. He replied that he just wanted to make sure he was 'fixing' the right one. He told me to click my Microsoft logo on my keyboard, then the control key and cmd, and then to enter the following. At this point, I faked another incoming phone call and said I had to take it because I had a gravely ill family member. He said it would only take a moment. I told him my family was more important, but I promised to call him back. Then he gave me a different phone number: 209-306-9701 and his name was Roger. Of course I'm not going to call Roger back, but I will be reporting all this information to the FCAC.
