This number calls and says they are an attorney's office, collecting for a loan from a payday loan I never received, saying I gave them a false routing number etc...to my bank account. They are now telling me I will be picked up Tuesday for arrest...Who are these people? They have several numbers they call from, they call up to 18 times a day, and usually in a row. They are calling my place of work, my family, how do I stop them? They never identify the company.

Rebecca - this is indeed a scam!!! Read the post by "the saint" under the number 707-633-0002 on this site. It has alot of information about what is going on. Put a fruad watch on all your accounts, you may want to change them - my bank changed them immediatly at no charge. Notify social security and your state attorney general and file a compliant a www.ic3.gov. This is a long running scam! They will keep calling form different number using different names - but always the same crackpot story. Beware - they may even call you at work. Good luck - I have been dealing with these creeps every few months since February.
My sister received a call from "National Crime Monitoring Unit" saying that I was in "big trouble" and that they were investigating me but would not say what for. I called them this morning and some guy I could not understand (due to his strong accent) was rude and would not let me get a word in. He had the nerve to tell me that I owed $4,000.00 and if I did not pay it that I would be arrested at work and face criminal charges. This is pure evil and I feel sorry for anyone who falls for this scam. These parasites should be ashamed of themselves! I work for a Law Office and this is totally against the law!! I was told to call the Attorney General at 800-386-5438 or go to the attorney general website to file a complaint. These people need to be stopped and anyone who is harrassed should take all the necessary steps to make this happen.
i just received a call from 559-588-0922 stating that they were from the "cyber crime division". They have the last four digits of my social security number and were threatening to have my driving privileges revoked, among other things! i'm on ythe phone with my bank right now... Thank you so much to everyone for your posts and sharing your experiences. You've been extremely helpful. i hope like crazy they can do something to this group.
