Got the call from a heavily accented Indian voice saying I was trying to avoid the magistrate or grand jury and I must call back immediately or it would be a second avoidance. Sound like the same people who have been calling about my "Windows" computer...
My answering machine just got the same call twice within an hour: Same as comment above: "....Got the call from a heavily accented Indian voice saying I was trying to avoid the magistrate or grand jury and I must call back immediately or it would be a second avoidance."
I got a call on my answering machine from someone named Steve srtin at 10:30 saying that I need to call back so he can help me from having legal action.
Got another call at 11:30 and saw on caller id that it was the same number from earlier. And I did not pick up but the dude named Streve Martin saying same thing as before.
We are registered on the donot call list. And I re-registered numbers again a few months ago. And still getting these types of calls. So annoying!
I just checked the IRS WEB SITE phone number list and this number is NOT listed....
Soooooooo I called the number back from a blocked line, the person answered and I couldn't hear him so I asked him to repeat. He did but spoke so fast that I didn't understand so I asked him to repeat again. He had a [***] accent..... so he repeated again. "US TREASURY". I said "Did you say US TREASURY??" He said yes "US TREASURY" In which I replied "you REALLY don't expect me to believe that do you???!!!! Then there was silence..... Still had background noise..... I repeated myself and he hung up.....
So most likely a scam!! I work for the IRS and we don't contact by phone. Either by Certified or regular mail only!!!
