I got calls from this phone - The screen reads Lamar Homes In and they are asking for donations for the Police. They sent me a for once and I misplaced it and they called me back thanking me for the donation and asked for another. I just called this number and a guy answered and just said Hello. I think he is ripping people off for money

Received calls from this person asking for donations for the police. I star 69'd it and caled him back. He answered the phone as if it were his home line. I told him that My FHP friend said that police organizations NEVER solicit like this over the phone. I told him if he ever called me again, he would have a very big problem and would receive unwanted calls from me. There was sound in the background of a baby and someone doing dishes. A REAL SHAM. BEWARE OF THIS PERSON AND REPORT IT.
Thanks to everyone who have posted here!! I had been getting the same calls-- caller id says Lamar Homes, and he leaves messages "hello. Hello. Miss. -----. Hello," hang up. After reading these posts, I called back, and the person introduced himself as from the Florida Police and Troopers Association. So I google them. I find one hit, and the 'contact us' link doesn't work. But, they indicate on the website they are a part of IUPA. Look them on guidestar, but no financials present. So I email IUPA asking for their most recent financial statement (mainly because I'm thinking the Florida chapter is fraudulent), but they respond saying they guarantee a minimum of 10% every donation goes to the Florida chapter. To their credit, they did send me their public disclosure, and guess what?! They receive a little over $8 million from 4 companies who do the phone solicitations. Only a little over $600k goes to IUPA, and the rest to the phone solicitors. And... they only gave a total of $25k out in assistance to the needy & for scholarships. So, save your darn money!
