The usual Google-based scam artists are apparently back to work again after a blissful couple of months without their calls. A prerecorded message was on our business line's recorder saying, "Press 1 to validate your Google listing." Caller ID showed "Florida." Big surprise. Florida isn't the sunshine state, it's the scam artist state. That's assuming there was anything truthful about the caller ID info.
Probably the same scumbags that call me from 239-654-1126. They stay on long enough to register a message on my cell phone but of course don't leave any. That number is in Florida also. Blocked the number so now they are harassing me from another number. Verizon only lets you block 5 numbers at a time unless you give them 5 bucks a month, but you also have to have one of their expensive plans to use the premium blocking service.
I get a recording: "Our updates show that you have not updated your business listing with Google. Press 1 to register your business". I press 1, then I'm put on hold briefly. I am asked my name (by a real person), I reply. I am asked if I own the business. I ask which business, and they hang up. Has happened multiple times from multiple numbers around the country.
I feel like Google needs to know about this scam - whatever the scam is.
