I received a call from this phone number (which showed on my phone as "TTC LA"), and the woman claimed to be with The Building Center, and said knew our last name. She said "I spoke with you in the past, you may recall, and I'm not calling to sell you anything" and claimed she wanted to "finish a survey" that she had supposedly started with me in the past. When I said I did not recall what she was talking about, she said that she had actually spoken with ______ (my husband's name). Then she seemed to go back onto her script and said "I just have three quick questions to ask and then you may recall speaking to me." I asked, "If you actually spoke to ______ (my husband), then how would hearing your questions remind me? She went on, "Have you done anything to your home this past year that would be considered energy-efficient?" I said no, and that I wanted to be removed from their call list; she claimed that she couldn't do that unless I answered the questions first, implying that maybe her computer would get to the page about removing me after it went through all the questions first. I told her that we are on the Do Not Call list, and requested again that she remove us from the list. She said "Believe me, I get calls on my home phone just like you do, and I feel the same way, but if we can just answer the questions, it will avoid you getting any more calls from us." I said, "If you would remove my number from your call list it would avoid me getting any more calls from you." She kept talking and I said "Are you kidding me?" and whenever I would say anything, it seemed like maybe I was being recorded. Then suddenly she was not on the line anymore. I called the number back and got the recording that the number had been disconnected or was no longer in service. In retrospect, I suspect that she was deliberately keeping me on the line for a certain amount of time, or perhaps trying to get me to say something in particular, which would be recorded.
