Didn't recognize the number so let it go on the answering machine. Caller hung up as soon as the machine picked up. Not too long after that, I got a call from a private number, it was "Microsoft." Same people maybe?
Got a phone call today and answered. After a second pause, a male voice verified my name. Then he asked, whether I still have a Honda-2007. I said yes. He offered an extended warranty and asked whether there are any ongoing problems/concerns with the vehicle. I said no. Then he asked for the mileage. I gave him the number. Then he told me to wait for a couple minutes to connect with a warranty specialist. I said that I did not have time to talk at the moment and offered to call him back at the number shown on my caller ID. He said no, that doesn't work (oops!). I suggested that he sends me an Email, but he answered no, he cannot do that.
Summary: if you are not interested to purchase an extended warranty for your old car, do not answer the call.
I had will a simular experience to the post listed above even though I am on the State and Federal do not call list…will someone from the FCC please shut these people down!
