call from"James Parker" with east Indian accent telling me they were Windows...not Microsoft just Windows which they claimed was different??? said my system was being used by hackers and they were calling to warn me and help me fix my computer...had me open event viewer and pointed out errors and warnings as hacker using system...had me type assoc in cmd prompt and then used the ".ZFSendToTarget=CLSID\{888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062}" which is the same for all Windows computers to say this was me...they said they knew my computer id... they read off a CLSID number and it matched the one of my computer but as I said it's the same number for all computers...if you didn't know that you would be convinced they knew what they were talking about...don't be fooled!!! they wanted me to download and run the free download of teamviewer (www.teamviewer.com) and then supply them with my # and password to access my computer!!! PLEASE, THEY SOUND LEGIT BUT THEY ARE NOT...DO NOT DO WHAT THEY ASK
I had a similar experience immediately after trying to stream some television. Caller w. East Indian accent claimed to be calling from "Windows Technical Support". When I asked how he got my number, he said it was with the certificate of authentication. I asked what company he represented; he said he was calling from "Windows" head office in California. Clearly not!
Ctd. from previous entry: I asked for his number and said that I wanted to call him back; he gave me the number above, which seems to be for an Ohio location.
