Received a call from this number claiming to be the US Treasury Department and that I have been accused of tax evasion. Said there was an error on 2009 taxes and I owe back taxes. Tried to confirm my name and address which I did not do. Indicated that within 45 minutes I would be picked up and taken to jail. Claimed I had been informed of this through the mail previously. They have repeatedly called all day about every 30 minutes.

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
