We own a legitimate chimney company in Mass. I have gotten at least 10 calls in the last 2 weeks from people that EME has tried to scam into spending a lot of money on unnecessary repairs or hung up on when the home owner tried to ask questions.
If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is! BEWARE

Well, I got the same call about chimney cleaning. I needed some work on the cap (it leaks when it rains). The guy showed up when he said he would. He had a van with EME sign on it and told me that my chimney is the kind that does not need cleaning and he is not going to take my money for nothing. Then I asked him to take a look at the cap and he did that without charging. He told me it was rusted a little and he can charge me some money and caulk it but after the first freeze I would have the same issue. He gave me an estimate for a stainless steel cap (I have an oil burner and he insisted that any other kind of a cap won't last) and after we agreed on the price I gave him a deposit. He is supposed to show up today and he just postponed to later on today but offered to take something off the price. I will let you know how he is.
TOTAL SCAM!!!! The guy showed up his name is Lee (NY accent) and took my chimney cap off which was totally fine. It just needed some silicone in one of the screw holes. He was supposed to give me my deposit check back and I pay him cash for his work. Well, he deposited the check before he showed up. He cut a couple of holes in a stainless steel sheet he had and put it up in place of what was there. I told him that the rain and snow will come through the holes if he does not put a rain collar on it and he assured me they wont and if they do he will come and fix it since I have a lifetime warranty! He left to get a chimney cap that fits and never showed up again. Well, the first rain I had a waterfall coming through. I called him many times and his office 855-597-5750, they kept saying they will call back or they are coming tomorrow and never showed up to finish the job. Now they don't answer any calls. The office guy (Tom) never calls back either. Take this warning from me. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
Eme came to my house for a cleaning in Rhode island and my liner had collapsed he told me I needed a new liner in the chimney so I told him to give me an estimate and he did I had 3 other companies come in and check it and they all said the same thing I eventually had eme come back because there estimate was cheaper then the others they came did the job after the job was done I had my plumber come check on it and he said they did a great job the guys names where Kevin and Ray they were very respectful and professional
