From the information I found out, is that these individuals are actually in other countries and have the technology to generate what appears to be a legitimate phone number here in the U.S. I suppose that is how they are not getting caught and keep harassing law abiding citizens, and it seems that their own countries laws aren't enough to deter them either. I am going to look into purchasing a phone that can block calls as I am at wits end about these ***holes calling and bothering us daily.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
I got a call yesterday and claim to be Officer Frank White and I have unpaid taxes then it was Tax Fraud ....story was changing and did not sound professional and caller ID showed to be Arlington, VA...Asked for more information and he kept referring me to the same number he called from and ask for officer Kevin Peterson or Sebastian Hall.....
I felt this gut is wishy washy and contradicting but wanted to verify and kept my cool...
