There is a good reason for "an exorbitant amount of money to ship the item to some remote location". The payment you receive from the scammer will ultimately come up bad but in the meantime, you are supposed to receive the scammer payment and forward the large shipping fee to the scammer's shipper (his accomplice or the scammer himself) via an irretrievable money transfer method like Western Union wire transfer. After the scammer's payment comes up bad, you will have lost the large shipping fee that you voluntarily sent the scammer, will have your accounts frozen perhaps for weeks (no access to money), may be prosecuted for money laundering (converting traceable electronic money into untraceable cash), and may be charged bank fees. The scammer is not interested in the item you are selling. The scammer is interested in scamming the shipping fee from you, preferably a LARGE fee.
