Got a voicemail from somebody with an Indian accent claiming to be from the IRS - about to get a Federal Warrant for my arrest. BOGUS! The IRS does not operate that way. Now where's my Tandoori Chicken???
Got a heavily accented message from this number. Transcript as follows:
"Hi this is officer Melving Backer calling you from tax audit department of the Internal REvenue Service. The nature behind this voicemail is to make you aware that we have received some legal petition complaints against your name concerning an illegal tax evasion for taxes in Florida. So we are about to tkae this matter to the Federal claims court house and they're about to issue a warrant for your arrest but before we go ahead and do that if you need any relevant informaiton concerning this case you can call us back on our call back number which is 571-526-0003. Again this is officer Melvin. You have a good day. Thank you."
I think an IRS agent would be able to remember the difference between their first and last name for at least the duration of a single voicemail. I think that their angle is to try to get you to call in and give up your social security number, etc. so that they can steal your identity. They may even try to extract a credit card payment for the supposed owed amount - then they would most likely charge much more than that to your card.
THIS NUMBER KEEPS CALLING MY HOUSE - SOME INDIAN ACCENT CLAIM TO BE OFFICER MELVIN BAXTER FROM THE IRS !?!? WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP HOW DO I GET STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
