(Shifty/Scammy) NY Police Chief's Association... Agressive, pushy male with overconfident (dicky) demeanor (never taking NO for an answer) trying to guilt you into donating to the cause of giving back to our law enforcement folks and their families (which is an excellent cause BTW). However, I have been receiving bogus calls from literally (correct usage) the same guy masquerading as a representative of one branch of law enforcement or another (used to be something lIke, The Fraternal Order of the Brotherhood of Heroic Brave, Humble and Sadly Misunderstood Police of NY... or, something roughly like that. I've been dealing with and blocking this clown for more than 12 years. He just changes his number and police organization and keeps calling. If you call him out and remind him that most real police organizations do not solicit funds over the phone, then, point out that real police remind us never to make donations to local, county or state police over the phone because of the potential for fraud, he gets extremely surly and argumentative. He has even suggested that I should tread lightly because of his police connections... I think threatening people for money just might be considered illegal... Even if this joker donates a small portion of his proceeds to the police, he's still a thuggish turd who keeps changing his number and the name of his cause.
I just simply tell them I only give Donations in person and most have stopped calling me, didn't even need to block them either...well a few I did anyway.
You are so right! This guy has been calling our landline for years and has a very recognizable voice. Always trying to get your address so he can send a donation packet. Usually Brotherhood or Fraternal Order of Police thing. Call goes from professional to hostile as soon as you take him off script. Have even gone as far as reporting some of these specifically. I guess this form of harassment remains off of law enforcement's to do list.
