OMG...got the same problem..he said that we wrote a check and we need to pay..and he said to talk to this company called mediation something...shuld i ignore it
Got a call from them! Said he was an "investigator" looking into a check fraud case. Gave me the name of the person, a woman, with a slavic last name. I said "who?", his response was "you don't know her" and I said "no". He said "thanks" and hung up. From what I heard the caller is a black male, probably 35-50 years of age, and not highly educated. I don't think I've been scammed.
Yes it is a scam! I had the same problem I called the state police and they did a full report as well as turn it over to attorney generals office. I was informed its a scam. If it was true they would know all your information and it would be a magistrates office getting a hold of you or the police. This would be done by certified male through the court system. It is also a bot! The one I had said it was Clarence Thomas, if you know your history Clarence Thomas was a us government judicial judge. If you call back, and you ask for proof that you owe this, they will tell you that they do not have to give your proof that your bank has the proof. This is not true, they need to provide you with proof and if your bank knew about it they would be contacting you. The state police told me there are so many scammers out there these days some are calling from India and rerouting the phone calls through possibly 5 phone numbers using magic jack. state police said never give anyone bank account numbers, credit card numbers. Make them send you something in writing and if it is a legitimate bill they will have your address and bill account number. He said never pay over the phone!
