Caller ID says Not In Use. Because of so many spam calls I have shut my answering machine off in the hopes that these spamers will find out it's not a "live" number as it just rings and rings but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Like locks being for honest people....it only punishes me...but I keep hoping.
I am getting calls from this number almost daily but won't answer. If it is important or legit then they would leave a message but they don't. So I looked up their number, came to this web site and saw that many people were saying these calls are from the Breast Cancer Financial Fund. I never heard of them so I looked them up and found them on a list of "The Fifty Worst Charities". This is what was what I copied and pasted from that list:
"Cancer Fund of America/Breast Cancer Financial Assistance Fund
The Cancer Fund of America was started in 1984 to raise funds for research and cancer treatment. However, instead actually paying for cancer patients expenses, the charity collects donated goods and ships them across the country to dying patients and their families who have gone broke due to the massive expense they have burdened trying to battle cancer. The Cancer Fund of America has paid: $80.4 million to solicitors, $17.6 million for overhead, $891,812 to direct cash aid."
If solicitors made $80.4 million dollars then there are 80.4 million reasons for solicitors to call as many people as often as they can. Oh, and FYI charities, like politicians, are exempt from the DO Not Call List rules. What I would like to know is how do organizations such as this get to be called "Charities". The definition of a Charitable Organization needs to be tightened up. I donate "direct cash aid" also known as money to certain causes each year. Maybe I am a Charity and didn't know it. Who makes up the rules about Charities and how do we change to rules to get scam organizations like this removed from the list of Charities?
I have received many calls from this number, I do not answer the phone if the number is unknown to me. I am assuming that this is a spam call . If the call can be blocked, I would appreciate it.
