Just called. They said I was hard to get ahold of. They have called 6 times in the last two days. Never anyone there. Played along. They want donations for United Breast Cancer Foundation. First person recites standard stuff, would like a donation of $50 or $20, "can we count on you?" I said ok. Verifier gets on and wants credit card. I told her the previous person told me I could pay by mail (never intended to do that). Verifier says we will save all that time by taking your credit card information, how much are you willing to donate? I told her $50 which made her very happy. I said I would get my credit card. Put the phone down for a minute and got back on. I told her that I had been called 6 times and all but the last one were hang up calls. Said "you can kiss your $50 good bye" and hung up. They are also calling from 603-513-2438
Called a few times asking for "Sergio". I realized it's pre recorded voice and when you respond with "You have the wrong number" the voice recognition realizes it's got a human being and it goes from there. The responses vary depending on how you respond. Annoying. It's a newer cold calling technique using vocal recognition software to weed out unanswered calls / hang ups and get to humans.
