Here's an automated transcription of the robocall:
Hi my name is David Gray. This message is intended to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the United States treasury and needing your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before magistrate judge for a grand-jury for federal criminal offense. My number is 606-259-9417. I repeat it's 606-259-9417. I'd like you to call with us and help us to help you.
As the others noted, male, middle eastern accent, serious, almost threatening tone. This is the second of these types of scam calls I received. I actually got a live person on the last one, and he threatened me - said he was an "officer". I hung up and he called back, again threatening. I said to hold on, as I was going to conference in the police so we could get this straightened out - of course, he disconnected immediately.
Yep, I got the same call that everyone else got - robodial type call because I only got part of the message but there was the part about going in front of the magistrate, etc. There is no way that it is legit. I see how people might fall for it but I am not sure how people don't know their own business enough to know it is not true. This is exactly why I typically don't answer any calls from a number I don't know.
Got the same call as everyone else - from a man then a woman when I called back. I told her to call back when I could speak to someone who could speak English. Click - No response. Boo hoo for them ;o(
Male of Middle Eastern descent, advising me it was a second attempt at settling an IRS case to avoid appearing before a magistrate or incarceration. As I am sure I do not owe the IRS anything it is obviously a scam. I wish these losers would be caught and incarcerated themselves!!
I called back also using the blocking feature. Matthew Colson with the ITS in Kentucky is who he stated he was. ID # 72076. He said they call people in Kentucky with IRS problems. he further stated they don't do outbound calling that it is impossible. I told him his impossible is wrong i just received an inbound call.
I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said it was impossible. I said this is a bogus scam and he said you too then hung up
