GOOD FOR YOU Vic!! Do you know that you can block whole area codes (999,999 #'s) and just the Name of a caller as well? Our PhoneTray (FREE- v1.39) has over 30 MILLION (!) #'s blocked, and still counting. That beats any of the other call-blockers by the Tele-Com Companies, hands down!
We should find a place in here to submit our 'puters $hit Li$t of blocked #'s through PhoneTray so everyone else (with PhoneTray anyway) can start blocking these scumbag TMCC (Tele-Marketing Call Centers) calls without having to be bothered with them in the 1st place.
Don't you just love technology that we can use against them? I sure do.
I refused to answer the call. Returned call and asked if I would like to be put on a do not call list for that number, then to press "1". Then they said it would take 48 hours to take affect.
Your post does raise one question: If you 'refuse' to answer the call, why did you call it back? One of the regulars posted a link to a newspaper that investigated the ongoing 'lottery scam' in Jamaica. In the boiler room were sheets of phone numbers. These sheets are bought by scammers, from scammers. The average cost is $5 to $7 dollars a sheet. Your phoning back & pressing a number tags your number as having a 'live person' attached to it, and is then put on a list to be sold.
Number keeps calling every so often, but hadn't called in so long I had forgotten about it. It called today- and I recognised their "speech" on asking about us owning a Dodge Calliber. Well, we never have owned one of those ever, nor do we even have a Dodge now. Each time they call, its about us owning a Dodge Calliber and a warranty on it. They need to quit. And I answered this time because I was expecting a call from someone from their area. Scammers!
Call from "Binghamton NY" Didn't answer it and I've turned my answering machine off after being bombarded by scams and hangups. Things are much quieter since I've stopped using the answering machine.
