I'm sure this is a telemarketer and I'm glad the phone was switched off since I was ill and in bed when they (B*tches) called at 8:57 pm!! Imagine that!! Because it's 5 pm where they're supposedly located (west coast) and it's an automated call, without consideration for time zones. My next step is to block the number, along with the other idiots who called in the past two weeks.

Just picked up a call from this number at around 6:30 pm Eastern Time. There was a short robocall delay but someone came on the line in a few seconds. She knew my name even though we have an unlisted number. I've learned the hard way that whenever we make a charitable donation, the charity quickly sells our address and phone #(when I foolishly give it out) to others.
The caller said she was soliciting for breast cancer survivors and quickly kicked into reading a pat statement reciting statistics. I politely interrupted her and asked what charity she worked for and she dodged with a somewhat flustered answer that she was soliciting for breast cancer awareness. I then asked if she worked for a fund raising company or directly for a charity. After a significant pause, her answer was "I work for this office". I followed by saying (again politely) that I need to know who I'm dealing with before I agree to make charitable donations. She responded with "if you don't want to donate, I'll let you go. Have a good night"
The caller seemed to be a nice lady who sounded like my mother or or one of her friends. She wasn't rude, but was unresponsive to my simple questions. I wasn't able to ascertain who she worked for. I can't really draw much of a conclusion from this other than I didn't get a straight story and I'm inclined to think it's a professional fundraiser who's making the call. We don't donate in this way because of the variable, but often obscenely high rake off by the fundraisers. I've read in places it's sometimes 90-95% of the take.
