I answered once and it was a debt collector for Capital One.

Operator verified my name and asked me to hold for an important call.

After 20 seconds of background music the line goes silent and then hangs up.

They never identified who was calling, but since I am on Capital One's deadbeat list, it was probably them.

Called but no response when I picked up the phone. After a few seconds of background noise they hung up.

Capitol One is a good guess as I owe them some money, not a lot.

When I dialed the number they did not identify the organization, just said "Customer Service". When I asked why they called me and what they wanted they hung up.

I guess this signals the start of a new dance. They appear to have replaced the Indian collections operation with US, and probably more aggressive talent. It's a nice Xmas present.

I keep getting calls from this number which traces back to unpublished numberfrom Ithaca.  They identify themselves by first name and that's it. When I don't answer they don't leave a message.
