Guy called, he was very hard to understand and told me he was with Microsoft windows, and my computer was getting infections. I told him I wasn't at home he asked when he could call back, as I had to be at my computer for him to help me.
I told him I would take care of it and hung up.
Usually I try to keep them on the line to waste their time, and keep them from someone who will fall for this trick
I called the number back and got a voice mail saying "if you believe you have received this call in error press 1 to be removed from the caller list.
At least now they aren't spoofing numbers, used to be you'd call back and the number was out of service.
My Mom gets these calls. The caller says 'There's a problem with your windows computer'. Then he asks her to sit in front of the computer. My Mom hung up on him. He apparently called back and said, 'Why did you hang up on me?' She answered...because I don't want to do what you're telling me to do. He then says again 'Sit in front of your computer'. I'm not sure where this scam leads...but please don't listen to these people. No one should be calling you and asking you to jump through hoops. It's your life...take control and give them the dial tone!
called to tell me I was getting a refund because they were going out of business. told me they needed to access computer to verify transaction. I told them I didn't trust them and that I wasn't going to let them access computer. I hung up. They've called 3 times since to I hung up on them.
