These guys are part of a network of scammers claiming to be technical support. They want access to your computer, after which they attempt to get into your bank and email accounts. Big Clue: when someone doesn't know your IP number and claims to be a support tech from Apple or Microsoft, they aren't who they say they are. Just hang up. Then block their number. Calls from a new number will follow. Same scam. Block those, too. I'd like to prosecute them, but fear they are in India, Pakistan, China or Russia and, thus, untouchable. What I'd really like to do is meet them one dark night in a blind alley. There are plenty of brick and mortar IT people around who'll fix your computer legitimately. Stay off the internet for such services! That's my rant.
This is a fake/scam. They claim to be a technical support company, and that they have been receiving errors from your IP address, and try to talk you into letting them 'repair' it, then want hundreds of dollars for their work. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
I got a call from a man who said my computer had been hacked by a Russian Company. He told me to turn off my computer and he could fix it. He identified himself as being with "Brother IT Services," a microsoft technician.
Caller claims to be Rogers technical support. Suspicious activity on email address, and did I change my password recently. I asked to speak to his supervisor. Other person came on, and said basically the same thing. I asked where he was calling from, and when he said New York, I said 'have a nice day' and hung up. Also reported the type of call to Rogers, an all-Canadian company.
