Man said they were calling on behalf of "Firefighter's Support Services Inc." collection $ for people hurt in fires. I asked him who was he working with in my local area. (Central Wisconsin (Waupaca County)). He repeated I'm calling in behalf of F.S.S. Inc, can I send you a pledge card... I said no, and asked where he was calling from: Southfield Michigan. I asked again "who in the local area are you working with?" City FD? County Emergency Management? Told him every county in WISC HAS AN Emg Management Director, was he calling on behalf of him? Our county E.M.Director is involved with all county emergency responders (as all prob are) He did not know, said he was a trainee, and would I like to talk with his Supervisor. I said sure, he trasferred me, no one came back on the line. Search of FSS Inc yields article from Plains Dealer, less than 15% of funds collected go to cause collected for.
Those law enforcement, and firefighter fundraisers are among the worst to donate to, with the solicitors hogging the majority of the proceedings. Good thing you asked a lot of questions. They don't like being on defense and usually flee when the going gets tough since they're more less thieves. A good thing to do is tell them you gave at the office if you take the call.
